THE HISTORY

Munch cushions was born out of having a redundant sewing machine and the idea to create a unique interior accessory that was individual, handmade and at an affordable price.

I work predominately with authentic Harris Tweed from the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides. I have been creating my own designs whilst supporting the Islands famous trade. The Tweed is beautifully woven with many different coloured yarns and is a highly durable fabric. I am hoping to lose the stigma attached to tweed with its country pursuit and Grandmother tweed skirt notions...this is 21st century interiors!

So by putting together a plain and patterned fabric, I set to work...

New year, new Harris tweed! This time, vibrant colourings for some contemporary designs. I have also updated my original drawings page with new works. I use ink, pencil crayon and tissue paper to create these simplistic impressions. Other Munch projects are in the thinking pot and I'm hoping they will come to fruition in the coming months.
